Pauline Alpert recordings......
By Robin Pratt

subj:Pauline Alpert recordings......

I am sure as extensive as the liner notes seem to be from your NPR notice Karl that they don't mention that the originals of those Radio Transcriptions came from Jeffrey Morgan of Allentown , PA through an old friend of his whom I believe is now deceased. More than likely Jeffrey is not mentioned in her liner notes. I hope the notes are more reliable and accurate than they were in the Gershwin CD. At the Chicago Conservatory when I was a student, they told us NEVER trust record jacket notes as they were written to sell recordings and not preserve history! Having been involved in reproducing pianos and music rolls for 40+ years, the Gershwin CD liner notes proved they were right after all. (Frank Milne...Gershwin's personal editor?????????????)

Have a nice day.
