Slowing the Motor
By John A. Tuttle

In answer to Robbie's question, "Does the motor get hot?" It does, of coarse, get a little warmer than it would at full voltage but in each of the two cases the motor had already been rebuilt. Further, I wrote a short disclaimer on the receipt to protect myself from a liability suit and in doing so confirmed the customers knowledge of the potential fire hazard. But they knew I would write the disclaimer before I started the job and agreed to the conditions. Personally, I consider such modifications a minor sin, but I'm the technician, not the owner.
