MMD Archives January 1997 1997.01.13 04 Prev  Next Origin of Rock-ola By Hal O'Rourke The Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation began in Chicago in June, 1932 to manufacture pinball machines. David C. Rockola, the founder, led the industry in the early years and is credited with numerous innov- ative machines which are some of the most prized by pinball collectors today. This company eventually evolved to the jukebox giant which lasted, I believe, until the 70's.
