MMD Categories
By Chuck Walker

Classification and indexing schemes are of considerable interest to me but I admit to not having any firm answers yet. The comments by Jan Kijlstra seem to be right on target for someone looking for information on a given instrument type. On the other hand, secondary topics with this scheme may be difficult to locate. Thus the need for cross indexing of some sort.

May I also suggest the addition of an item for music theory as it might apply to arrangements done for mechanical music? This could be a secondary or even tertiary level subject in most cases yet there may be those musicologists who would want to search the archives of MMD.

[ What previous articles would fit this category, Chuck? Can you find
[ a few examples in the MMD Subject List? I think the topic _has_
[ showed up here, possibly in George Bogatko's letters, but the Subject
[ List may not show it. -- Robbie
