Re: Fire at Play-Right
By Bill Finch

Play-Right made Wurlitzer Band Organ rolls in Oakland. If I recall correctly, their master rolls and punch-presses for Wurlitzer rolls were located at the Oakland facility. I assume this means that they escaped destruction. Can anyone confirm this information?

Bill Finch

[ Editors note:
[
[ It was Ray Siou who formerly sold music rolls from his business
[ in Oakland, California. All production was by Play-Rite Music
[ Rolls, Inc., in Turlock. The fire destroyed only 88-note rolls;
[ no machinery of any consequence was damaged. Although Malone stated
[ after the fire that "Play-Rite is out of business", I don't believe
[ for a moment that he will quit his other business of producing music
[ rolls for nickelodeons and orchestrions and organs. He's too stubborn!
