Durability of Polylon
By Debbie Legg

Dear Members, Just got a Welte wind motor into the shop suffering from loping. This motor had been resurfaced and the pneumatics recovered no more than two years ago.

For those of you who read my Simplex parts post; the work on this motor was done by the same technician! The pneumatics had been covered in Polylon. Upon examination every fold in the cloth had developed holes. This is the first time I have seen this problem with Polylon.

Has anyone else had such a fast failure rate with this cloth? I solved the problem by gluing pouch leather punchings at the folds. My now lack-of-faith in Polylon will have me reconsidering its use.
