Gluing Pneumatic Cloth
By Richard Kemp

I am currently rebuilding a player piano and would like some advice on gluing bellows cloth to boards.

I am using hot animal glue, but note that several authors strongly advise warming the cloth after it has been laid on the glue so as to increase the strength of the bond. I have been doing this by laying a piece of cotton over the rubber cloth and then applying a warm iron. However, I am a little concerned that this process might damage the rubberised cloth. Can anyone advise me on their prefered method?

Many thanks.
