Drawings of Nickelodeon Components
By Don Teach

After reading Andy Taylor's comments on the Ragtime Automatic Music
products, I would like to know if any others are interested in making
nickelodeons out of the old 88-note type players.

As some of you know I am a collector and love the old original
nickelodeons. Somewhere in a past Digest I tried to hint about the
Ragtime products as being not up to par with the original machines.
There have been many players converted to "O" roll machines with so-so
results. If I was going to take the time to make a nickelodeon from
scratch, then why not make a replica of an original machine?

There are several non-professionals (player men) that have successfully
recreated Seeburg "G" machines and many other types of machines. Dick
Hack built a Wurlitzer Harp. Dave Ramey has built Encore Banjos, Seeburg
H's, Coinola X's, and who knows what else. There are also several
professionals such as Dave Ramey, Art Reblitz, Dick Hack, Dana Johnson,
Noel Burndahl, and many others including myself that have made replicas
of original machines or parts.

I would like to know if there is enough interest in replicating a machine
to warrant printing drawings of original components. Send me your
comments.
