Tipping a Grand
By Douglas K. Rhodes

In MMD 97.08.26, Terry Smythe lamented:

> I work alone and I would like to be able to tip it onto its feet
> and back again by myself. It's real heavy, and I'm pushing 70.

Terry, don't be crazy! Why risk your back, or your friends' backs, or
the piano itself when you could hire professionals for about $30-40 to
come in and flip it for you?

It is a very small price to pay relative to the value of the piano --
and your health. Those young guys can take it. We're too old for that
kinda stuff.

As far as building a hoist is concerned, I suppose the engineering
challenge may have some appeal, but I suspect you'd be happier _working_
on the piano, rather than thinking about ways to move it.

Cheers

Doug Rhodes
