New Musical Bird Box from Germany
By Philip Brady

My name is Philip Brady. I have been an MBSI member for about 6 years.
My interest in clocks and music boxes is growing to also include bird
boxes.

I understand there is a company in Germany currently making new bird
boxes, but that, unfortunately, is all I know. It is not Reuge. I would
appreciate any information you might have as I would like to buy a bird
box, and I was told that these new boxes can be had much more reasonably
than the antiques. That suits me fine -- I simply want a bird box.
Thank you very much!

[ Welcome to MMD, Philip, and you're in luck!. A few years ago
[ Siegfried Wendel purchased the tooling and the "goodwill", and now
[ he produces the Black Forest bird boxes at the Mechanical Musicboxes
[ Manufactury in beautiful Rudesheim am Rhein in Germany. Even better,
[ Siegfried's son, Joerg Wendel, is a member of MMD, and I hope he will
[ tell us the history of these cute instruments. Bist Du da, Joerg? ;)
