Chickering Ampico Grand Acquired
By Larry Toto

To Ampico aficionados and anybody else, I rebuilt a Fischer (Pratt-
Read) upright player last year and decided that I would move up to a
grand someday.

Yesterday was the day. I got myself a 1927 Chickering Grand (pretty
close to 6') with an Ampico A (I think) reproducer. It has been owned by
the same family since new. It appears that it has never been restored.

I am excited and thought I'd share the news. I am sure to have lots
of issues to resolve down the road and the MMD is sure to be a great
resource as it was for the Fischer rebuild.

I just jumped into deep water. Wish me luck.

Larry Toto

[ You'll have lots of fun rebuilding most of the piano, Larry. When
[ the tough parts are facing you is when you'll consider hiring one of
[ our resourceful MMD player techs. ... I know, I've been there! ;)
