Welte Orchestrion
By Brian Chesters

Hi all,

Our local newspaper (Manx Independent-Nostalgia column) has just printed a
photo of a very large Welte Orchestrion roll operated. The photo was taken
in about 1920 when the Welte was located at Cunninghams Camp on the Isle of
Man. I guess it was a holiday camp. It is pictured next to an upright piano
and is about three times as tall as the piano. The pipes are in the typical
sun burst fashion to the front.

There is a possibility that this one was reduced in size and moved to
Craig-y-Nos castle in North Wales, The home of Adelina Patti the opera
singer. The local paper is not sure on this though and I was wondering if
any of our esteemed subscribers can shed any light on it?
