Cackling Hen Noise - Indescribable!
By Walter Tenten

Hello Bob, Your inquiry to MMD reminded me of something. Looking in
one of my cabinets I found a box with several...

The devices were produced 1965 (in Germany). They are intended to
be put into a doll or a cloth hen. Upon pushing a knob, a battery-
operated motor starts to turn a record disc. The record produces, via
a fine needle that is in contact to a membrane, the noise that you are
looking for. I cannot describe it, but every listener starts laughing
immediately.

The belt of these "devices" is rotten, because it was a simple red
rubber band. The record disc has to be re-glued to the turntable.
Otherwise everything is factory-new, as we say here.

I could offer them to you for free, but mailing them from Germany to
Australia might become extraordinary expensive. Perhaps my explanation
can lead you to where and what to search for.

Regards, Walter
