Custom Music Box Tunes
By Beatrice Robertson

Reuge music in Ste. Croix, Switzerland, has the computer setup to
arrange and pin any tune, and can promise a very quick turn-around
time. However, then the fun begins.

I don't remember what the minimum order was, but it was substantial, and
in general, only 18-note movements were readily available, because they
are automatically (robotically) made. The larger movements are still
pinned from drum patterns (or were in summer 1996.)

I'm sure that the capability is there to make the patterns for the
larger movements, but that is not how it was being done. The Japanese,
and now Chinese manufacturers of small musical movements have the same
capabilities, but I suspect that large minimum orders or very high
costs were be the norm. Nancy Fratti, do you have prices on custom
tunes?
