Transposed Organ Tuning
By Scott Olson

"Band organs seem to have been made at many pitches other than the "C"
centered tuning." This is _speculation_. The higher pitches would be
slightly less expensive to produce because of materials, especially in
the bass pipes. Also, a higher pitched instrument will sound
"brighter", and that would be another reason for a higher pitch. Other
than that, maybe the new owners wife could only sing in E-flat! (jokes!)

I'm sure they were marked the way they were to avoid confusion during
factory assembly.

Have a Happy Easter, Everybody

[ Well, a W165 roll sounds in C when played on a big Style 165 organ,
[ but the same roll sounds in E-flat on the smaller Style 157. How
[ are the pipes marked, and how can this transposing be explained?
