Hoyt Metal
By Dave Vincent

Hoyt metal is a two-ply metal "laminate" used in the manufacture of
pipe organs. It is basically a tin coating over a substrate of an
inexpensive grade of pipe metal (lead, antimony, and tin). Builders
use it to get a better appearance than could be had with the
inexpensive pipe metal alone.

Dave Vincent

[ Dave, this definition is considerably different from the pre-WW1
[ meaning cited by Hal Davis. Is this type of Hoyt metal defined by
[ a published industry standard? It may simply be jargon indicating
 [ tin-plating. -- Robbie
