P.C. Today - Visit the Cajuns in Louisiana
By Berley Firmin

Bon jour everyone: Now my two cents !

Lighten up everyone ! If you want to see how things should be,
come down here to south Louisiana where there's the only group you
can still make fun of, tell ethnic jokes about, ridicule, imitate
the dialect and mannerisms, all in the open and even all over the
local media (television, radio, print) ... and it's all O.K. !

It is even considered fun! And socially acceptable! Why, it is us
of French descent, the Cajuns !

We have learned to laugh at ourselves. We enjoy life like maybe no one
else. Maybe because we have been through it all. We pre-date all the
Mayflower people and have been through the worst of prejudice: forced
expulsion and, some say, genocide by the British. But we still have
'la joie de vivre' !

Relax and have fun ...
