Given any discussion, there will be two types of people in the
audience:

  1. Detectors of contradiction.

  2. Seekers of truth.

Detectors of contradiction will listen to the presentation looking for
all the mistakes, faults and contradictions -- the purpose of which is
to enable them to cry "A-ha!" and spear the presenter -- thus enabling
the detective to appear an erudite genius.

Seekers of truth -- realizing that this is an imperfect world -- will
note, but pass over the mistakes, faults and contradictions in an
effort to see past them in order to see the truth or discoveries that
may lie beyond.

After the presentation, the seeker of truth will leave, having perhaps
gained a truth, perhaps new, perhaps a reinforcement, but none-the-
less, they have gained something.   They have grown.

A detector of contradiction will leave with nothing beyond what they
brought with them.   They have remained the same.
