New Clear Plastic Tubing from Schaff
By Dan Armstrong

I remember the old vinyl tubing very well. In fact, some of the
players I've had to repair are full of it in various stages of
decomposition.

The tubing (hoses all over 1" in diam.) that I'm replacing with clear
tubing is made of a different material than the old stuff. Even the
use they're made for requires no decomposition in service, otherwise
it introduces contamination in your food. Many times I've had to order
hose from Schaff also, because of internal diameters that are difficult
to fit.

Also, if the customer has a preference, that's what I go by; the
customer is _always_ right.

[ So what's the chemical difference between the old gooey vinyl
[ and the new 'clear' vinyl suitable for food processing use?
[ Is it simply improved plasticizers? -- Robbie
