Yes, I did acquire the 110-key Gavioli from Dr. Robert Miller,
who purchased it from Euclid Beach Park in the mid 1960's. For over
50 years it played on a stage in the center of the park's skating
pavilion. I do plan to make digital recordings of the Gavioli in the
future.
This concert fair organ is quite unique in that it is the only
110-key Gavioli which is still original and has never been cut down.
The organ is fully chromatic and has very broad musical ranges in the
piccolo, melody, accompaniment, counter-melody, and bass sections. For
example, it has a 21-note bass trombone section. All but the lowest
five trombones are brass. The lowest "trombones" actually play in the
tuba contrabass range.
The Gavioli has over 1000 pipes and is a Militaire or extra powerful
model with an extra brass trumpet/ brass clarinet section. The broad
chromatic ranges allow the organ to play concert band scores without
compromise. The Gavioli can thus play the most demanding marches,
concert waltzes, and overtures. The organ came with a large library
of book music arranged and cut by Gavioli, Berni, and the B.A.B. Organ
Company.
