Stahnke & Rachmaninoff in New Scientist
By Jeffrey Borinsky

The Christmas issue of New Scientist has a nice article on repro-
ducing pianos and especially about the Stahnke/Rachmaninoff recordings.
See page 68.

On page 78 of the same issue is an article about Hedy Lamar's
involvement with controlling torpedoes. This proposed a frequency
hopping technique controlled by punched paper rolls. She and George
Antheil (of Ballet Mechanique fame) were granted a patent on this
in 1941.
