Music Boxes in Hammacher Schlemmer Catalog
By Larry Smith

Has anyone seen the two music boxes in the latest Hammacher
Schlemmer catalog? The new one with the organ on the front?
They seem to have developed sudden interest in mechanical
music. They have two music boxes they offer, both electric
powered, not spring motor, one plays a perforated disk, the
other a book-folded strip (mostly Christmas music). Of
course, they provide no useful details like size of disk,
type of movement, manufacturer, or anything like that. Not
even number of notes. But the disk definitely looks larger
than the 4 1/2" inch Reuge/Thorens movement, but not large
enough to be the 11" (I think). The book folded model does
not appear to be related to the crank model we've been
talking about lately. Both are $99, which seems quite
reasonable. Anybody have more info?

regards,

Larry Smith
