Steam Calliope & Safety Regulations
By Hal Davis

Here in Michigan it is almost impossible to legally operate a steam
calliope due to state safety regulations regarding the use of steam
devices.

It was so bad here, as in some other states as well, that the railroads
were having a devil of a time meeting state regulations although the
federal government insisted that since railroads were engaged in
inter-state commerce and came under federal guide-lines rather than
those of the individual states.

You might advise anyone considering building and operating a steam
device of any sort to check with their local state laws.

This also includes Cretor's Steam Corn Poppers here in Michigan.
