Introduction & Australian Stroud Pianola
By Wayne Schmidt

Hello, my name is Wayne. I live in South Australia and am a new
member to the MMDigest. I have recently acquired a Stroud pianola
with a Australian Aeolian piano action and a Aeolian Themodist player
action, and I am having difficulty finding any information and
manufacturing dates for it.

Stamped into the wood on the left side of the stack is the number
145066, and the only other number I can find is 2459, stamped into
the wood of the case in a couple of places.

Any information regarding the age of this pianola and general history
of Stroud and Aeolian in Australia would be greatly appreciated.

[ Welcome to MMD, Wayne. I recently saw a tiny English Pianola,
[ which is obviously related to the US versions yet it has its own
[ distinctive flavor in the construction of the mechanisms. Have you
[ enquired of a local piano technician about the condition of your
[ piano and the history of the Australian firm? Good luck and happy
 [ pedalling! -- Robbie
