QRS Artists Pete Wendling & Walter Redding

On rolls that are played by Pete Wendling and Walter Redding (which
some historians seem to think is an alias of Wendling), the Walter 
Redding signature is completely different from Wendling's.

Was Redding really his alter ego or a separate person?
