Preparing a Duo-Art Grand for Moving
By Ray Fairfield

Ed Chaban asked about moving a Duo-Art grand. My 5' 8" Weber came from
Connecticut (from the old Mechanical Music Incorporated -- is that the
right name?) to California in 1984, on a truck. It had none of the
action removed. It came fine.

As a side note, the piano was sitting on its side in front of my car in
the garage, awaiting restoration, and during the 1984 Morgan Hill (CA)
earthquake, it fell over. Fortunately, my car wasn't there, or it
would have been flattened. It fell on the stack box, denting the
corners, but doing no major damage. That piano is built like the
proverbial brick outhouse. The wife said it made a bit of noise.
