Gear Drive Tracker / Steinbach Player
By John A. Tuttle

Hi,

From the description given in the MMD (00.09.15), I think the player
system might be an Art Apollo (see pg 188 of Art Reblitz's book "Player
Piano Servicing & Rebuilding") made by Melville Clark, but I'm not
certain.

According to the reference list I'm compiling ('Player Piano Makers and
the Player Systems they Installed':

      http://www.player-care.com/makers.html

Stienbach & Dreher used the Mason & Risch player system. As a result of
the posting in the MMD, I have just added 'Steinbach' to the 'makers'
listing, with a note beside it saying 'action unknown'. Point is, I'd
also like to know which action is in the unit, so I can add it to
the database.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate any technical data on the
Melville Clark action or the Mason & Risch action. If anyone has some
data, please contact me.

Musically,

John A. Tuttle
