as a break from those never-ending restoration projects, I can honestly
recommend "The Piano Shop on the Left Bank".

Chatto & Windus, ISBN 0 7011 6874 9.  Price around UKP 16.

An enchanting tale of a Paris atelier.  My best Christmas present for
a long time.
