Gluing Ivory Keytops
By John A. Tuttle

Hi, I have to disagree with your posting about using contact cement
for gluing on ivory pieces. Contact cement is not white. Ivory is
translucent.

Contact cement gets darker with age. Over time, it will be very
obvious that the ivory was glued on with an unacceptable glue.
Furthermore, ivory is porous (being bone) and, over time, the contact
cement will dry up and the ivory will fall off again. Then, cleaning
off the dried up contact cement will be necessary. (Ever try to get
contact cement out of wood?)

Musically,

John A. Tuttle
