Kimball-Welte Roll Player Compatibility
By Jim Crank

Howard, The Kimball-Welte rolls did change the stop selection
functions from individual reversible to system with general cancel
then new stop selections. If you have a real Kimball-Welte player,
there is a switch on it that changes it from Welte [rolls] to
Kimball-Welte [rolls].

If you have a pure Welte player, then you will have to include the
new system into your Welte player.

The wiring changes and switch additions I do not know, since all the
Welte technical information seems to be lost, or the people who may
have copies are unwilling to share them.

The only other item that I saw, was that the Kimball-Welte did include
a 16' Trombone in the Pedal that came on when the Tutti came on, also
when the Crescendo mechanism went to maximum. It varied from organ
to organ and some Welte players also included the Trombone if the organ
was big enough to have one.
