Deagan Harmonically Tuned Tubular Bell Carillon
By Ed Gaida

Here is a link to two vintage J. C. Deagan photographs. The first
is the Deagan endless roll player. The rolls were two selections
long, and the whole thing hung on the wall.

The second photo is unidentified for the moment. It shows a very large
set of harmonically tuned bells being erected, I would suspect, in the
yard behind the main factory on Berteau Avenue. This photo is the only
one that I know of taken of a bell set outside of a belfry, although
I am sure there may be others.

Workers in the photograph give an idea of the size of a set of bells.
These are harmonically tuned. Notice the turned areas on each bell
tube. Harmonically tuned bells, which could play chords, were
introduced by Deagan in 1939.
