Player Piano vs. Ordinary Piano
By Don Winter

I looked at the Disklavier III offered only in Yamahas, at an
additional $10k-$15k, according to the dealer. It did a lot of cute
things in addition to playing the piano in a weak fashion, about as
well as the Knabe I just sold which defines the process as
unsatisfactory.

So for the money I could buy a nice electric keyboard, an nice stereo,
and a nice piano of the secondary market for far less than half the
money. The cheapest machine Yamaha had was $43k and that was in a
5'-0" piano. Then they had a 5'-8" or 6'-4" for $98K. Who buys this
stuff?

Robbie, my self-advice duplicates your comment. Since I do play the
piano fairly well, I have been considering getting a nice used 7'-9"
or 8-footer and just increasing my disc library since I have a 100 disc
"jukebox" on my stereo anyhow. With the quality of discs and the low
cost, any rag can be found I would imagine. Like the comment in the
Blues Brothers, where a young lady mentioned that there were two kinds
of music: Country, and then there was Western! <LOL> I feel the same
about rags. Rags and everything else!

But I still qualify for this list as I have quite a few music boxes.
I am looking for ragtime pieces on a Stella 17" if any of you want to
part with them.
