Harry & Sylvia Medcraft
By Dan Wilson, London

I well remember the Medcrafts and their hospitality -- and I still
have a wad of faulty Beethoven rolls Harry gave me to try out a
computer-operated word printing program I had in mind. As an engineer
myself, I thought his skills breathtaking.

The executors of Sylvia's estate have sold his perforator to the
Pianola Institute and it is currently in Catford (SE London) awaiting
attention and harmonisation with Rex Lawson's Apple IIe roll-composing
and perforating program (a distant relative of the QRS computer
program).

A policy for making it available to people wanting to produce their
own roll series will be announced by Pianola Institute when more is
known about the running costs (which will certainly be much higher than
in the USA).
