Composer of "Just A Memory"
By Lee Munsick

This is in response to Dave Krall's question of who Composed "Just A
Memory?", which he has on an Artrio Angelus roll played by Victor Arden.
It is also on Imperial 06645, and probably several others.

"Just a Memory" has music by Ray Henderson, and words by his frequent
partner, Buddy DeSylva, assisted by Lew Brown; copyright 1927.
It was recorded by lots of folk, including Paul Whiteman, Vincent
Lopez, Duke Ellington, and Judy Garland backed by Gordon Jenkins.

The film about DeSylva and Henderson was "The Best Things in Life are
Free", another of their hits, in which "Just A Memory" was sung by
Sheree North! When Ann Blyth appeared in the title role of "The Helen
Morgan Story" in 1957, she was seen singing "Just a Memory", but it was
actually dubbed by Gogi Grant. Surprise -- not Marni Nixon!

Okay Dave, now you have a few more than Just A Memory.

All the best - Lee Munsick
