Band Organs in Ohio & Pennsylvania
By William Griswold Jr.

Hello MMDers. I have just returned from my vacation in the
Pennsylvania and Ohio theme parks, and thought I'd pass along
what I've seen.

Kennywood Park - Wurlitzer 153 running well.

King's Island - Wurlitzer 157 playing, but sounded like the tracker
bars were dirty; not a very strong sound, bells not working at the
time. (I'm sure the problems were taken care of by Don Stinson by
now, though.)

Cedar Point- Wurlitzer 153, and ?? (cut up 153 facade on Denzel
"Kiddieland" carousel). Neither organ was playing. Park Operations
stated they were trying to get someone to fix them (like I can believe
that!), and Top Thrill Dragster is still not running.

Six Flags: World's of Adventure - Stinson Organ with Illions(?) facade
- sounded great, other than a problem with one roll not attached to the
receiving spool to play. The other roll would play through, and then
when rewinding, would play the notes in high speed rewind. Bells also
were not working at the time.

Debence Antique Music Museum - Great museum to visit. I highly
recommend it!

Hersheypark - Bells not working, otherwise sounded great as always.
Rode the carousel a lot there, finishing my stay with 11 consecutive
rides (not making it to the original 14 when I was younger)

Knoebels - all five organs sounded great as always, thanks to Dave
Wynn, especially that 115-year-old Frati.

See you all in Marietta.
