Economical Audio Recording
By Johan Liljencrants

I have prepared a write-up of elementary concepts and warnings to
amateur audio recording, with a scope to preserve good quality at
a moderate budget. See "Economical Audio Recording" at the MMD Tech
site, http://mmd.foxtail.com/Tech/

Following a theoretical background of room acoustics, microphones,
and stereo sound, there is an overview of practical issues using a PC
for a sound recorder. Some specific tips are included, also to enable
the reader to replicate my system with an artificial head. An example
recorded with this technique is at the MMD Sounds archive, "Lustspiel
Overtures by Kelar-Bela", at http://mmd.foxtail.com/Sounds/

Richard Z. Vance has reviewed and augmented the article, and verified
it the hard way by successfully setting up a similar system of his own.
