Mechanical Musical Instruments on Postage Stamps
By Christofer Noering

Hello! After having read Tim Trager's idea about a series of U.S.
postage stamps depicting different American instruments [040309 MMD],
I began to think which kind of instrument(s) would be appropriate
for different European countries to put on their stamps.

Above all, they should be typical, not to say indigenous: Switzerland
would have the music(al) box, of course; Sweden the Pianoharpa, or
table dulcimer; Great Britain the church barrel organ; Spain the
organillo, or street barrel piano.

But what for Germany? Perhaps the Phonoliszt-Violina?

Best regards
