Unknown Pianocorder Tunes at Web Site
By Mark Fontana

Over the past few years, I've been working on compiling a digital
archive of the complete music library for the Superscope/Marantz
Pianocorder system, including a detailed HTML-based catalog and index.
This project is nearly finished, and for almost every piece, I have
been able to determine the complete title, composer/lyricist, pianist,
and sometimes even the source piano roll.

Unfortunately, some of the listings in the printed Pianocorder catalogs
are inaccurate or incomplete. In many cases, I have been able to locate
the missing information by searching various print and online
resources, such as Google, the ASCAP and BMI databases, etc.

Of the 4000+ selections in the music library, about three dozen are
still puzzling me, and I am seeking help from MMD readers to identify
them. I invite anyone who'd like to play a game of mechanical music
"Name That Tune" to visit this web page I've put up:

  http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/incomplete/

On this page, you can hear MIDI conversions of the mystery pieces,
converted from native Pianocorder format. Some of the pieces include
nickelodeon-style accompaniment that is quite awful and worth a listen
out of morbid curiosity.

[ The opening melody of the tune labeled "Brazil Nut Rag",
 [ file http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/incomplete/pc_2.mid
[ begins like "The Aeroplane", by Jack Glogau; maybe it's related.
 [
 [ File http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/incomplete/pc_3.mid
[ labeled "Clap Your Hands", is "Ole Miss" by W. C. Handy.

 [ File http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/incomplete/pc_4.mid
[ labeled "Dead Sea Blues", sure sounds like J. Lawrence Cook,
 [ as does http://dp70.dyndns.org/pianocorder/incomplete/pc_5.mid
