Thorens 11" Disc Player Configuration
By Warren Unck

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

I have a Thorens 11" disc player which has a 41-note comb, but also has
43 star wheels on the player. I also see that the discs trip the last
two star wheels for the highest notes, but since there are no teeth on
the comb, no notes play. The discs are marked Thorens/Switzerland and
are recorded with 43 notes.

I was wondering if someone with a similar player could verify if this
is the original configuration or if my unit has undergone modification
at some point in the past.

When I checked with Don Caine at Music Box Repair Center Unlimited,
he found that the replacement comb did have 41 teeth and that the
replacement star wheel assembly had 43 wheels, leading us to believe
that this was the original configuration.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
