Old Mechanical Music Joke
By Adam G. Ramet

Here's an old (mechanical music) joke from a 1920s Co-Optimists theatre
programme I read tonight:

A police officer approaches an Italian barrel-organ player outside
a theatre: "And what do you think you're doin'?"

  "Sir, I was-a entertaining the-a people a-queing to go into-a da show."

"I'm afraid I cannot let you do that; you'll have to accompany me."

"A-certainly officer. What-a you like-a to sing? 'Tea For Two' or
'I Vant to be Happy?'"

Happy New Year!
Sincerely
Adam Ramet
