Theater Organ on Catalina Island
By Joyce Brite

I read a travel feature on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern
California in the Sunday newspaper. While describing the various
fascinating sites, the writer also noted the Avalon Theatre on the
island:

"Though the theater was the first in the United States built for sound
movies, it also has a pipe organ for silents. The theater made such
an impression that the tour wasn't enough. We returned for the first
screening of 'The Incredibles' on Saturday night and arrived early to
hear the 30-minute pipe organ concert before the movie."

Catalina Island, a pipe organ concert, and "The Incredibles" -- sounds
like a great Saturday night!

Surely someone among this distinguished group has seen and heard this
organ. I would like to learn more about the organ and would be
interested in having you share your experience with us.

Thank you,
Joyce Brite
