Seek Blower for Calliope
By Ken Schweim

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

I am in the process of building a 43-note calliope (wood whistles).
Actually I did get it working but now I'm rebuilding with modifications
which will require less maintenance.

This past summer I was at a parade where I was lucky enough to see two
brass pipe calliopes. Both of them were powered by Spencer blowers.
I was told they are old and were used in WW2 for something or other.

I have been researching the blowers and all I find is 240-volt units.
I didn't pay attention to the power source (generators) at the parade,
but are they all 240 volt? If not, where can I find one? Also, do you
know of anyone else that is building a calliope? It sure would be nice
to exchange ideas.

Thanks
Ken Schweim
