Has anyone ever noticed that, on old Steinway upright players, the keys
are very heavily weighted in front?  Shutoff is optional, via the keylock.

When one elects to have these keys move, their action resembles that of
player grand and other keys that _must_ move in order for the player to
properly function.  Most American upright players have noticeably "lazy"
key action; as the whippen returns to rest position, the key may still
be moving in the opposite direction.

From a mechanical standpoint, this is not harmonious at all.  Obviously,
by shutting off these heavily weighted Steinway keys, repetition, even
if good already, can be further improved, especially if a single-valve
action is doing the playing.
