QRS 5808 "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"
By Erik York

Hello to all, I just completed my first piano roll scan, using
a flat-bed scanner. Many thanks to Richard Canedo for his wonderful
PDF guide!

The roll I scanned (mostly because it was a short roll) was QRS Word
Roll 5808, "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes", played by Max Kortlander.
I noticed that it is a different arrangement than the roll that Robert
Perry has scanned with the same roll number by QRS. I also could not
find it in Terry Smythe's or Warren Trachtman's archive.

The roll I have is in the standard dark orange and red box that I think
was from the 1940's. You can have a listen at

So, maybe the roll I have is a different version or an alternate take
by Mr. Kortlander? Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Merry Christmas,
Erik York,
Newberg, Oregon

[ I don't recognise the artist in Erik's roll. It doesn't sound like
[ J. Lawrence Cook, and it certainly isn't Max Kortlander. Who might
[ the arranger be? -- Robbie
