Duo-Art vs. Ampico vs. Welte-Mignon
By Kent Zacherl

I think that the Ampico reproducing system is really pre-historic.
With no expression value, it is really boring listening to it play.
But the Duo-Art is full of expression and always ready to go.

A huge disadvantage to the Duo-Art is that the rolls were always
expensive, and still are. Welte, on the other hand, is a great
company, very dependable and reliable. With the rolls at intermediate
prices, they could really make a push-up Pianola that sounds like
a real person sitting there playing. I list my favorites below.

3. Ampico
2. Welte
1. Duo-Art

To hear why Duo-Art is my favorite go to www.spencersERolls.com and
go to the "Downloads" Page. Then look for ".MID files," then "The
Wedding Of the Painted Doll", played by Pauline Alpert, and listen
to "Wedding of the Painted Doll"!
