Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Jeffrey R. Wood

Here is a delightful film clip from Walt Disney's "Summer Magic"
(1963), featuring a Melville Clark player piano in a most favorable
light-- working right, in tune and being enjoyed by children and
adults alike. An inspiration!

And in this feature video, running in excess of ten minutes, you see
and hear not only Vince Giordano's legendary "Nighthawks" orchestra
playing snappy jazz arrangements from the 'twenties and 'thirties,
but also his collection of old and unusual musical instruments which
includes a Steinway grand player piano with transposing tracker bar
and about twelve hundred rolls. Enjoy!
