Band Organs Behind Glass
By Jack M. Conway

Hi Group, John Kavanagh mentions the "new California decibel
sound law." I am in disbelief that the marvelous California State
Legislature would come up with a law that would effect the use of
band organs. Is it written in a way that will prevent future band
organ rallies?

Could you please point me to the law -- the number, the author,
the sponsors, who voted for it and the exact wording of the law?

Thanks,
Jack M. Conway, Los Angeles, California, USA

[ The law is intended to protect the hearing of employees, which
[ is why the sound level of band organs at amusement parks must be
[ regulated. I don't think the law applies to onlookers at organ
[ rallies since they aren't required to remain near the organ
[ continuously for several hours. -- Robbie
