Updating the music has some merits.  Now take into consideration a
historic house -- modernizing the exterior is not permitted under
historic guidelines.  A stark new interior in a historic building is
like a gutted carcass.  I have viewed many a finely restored home with
beautifully restored interiors, but the thing which brings it to life
is music -- not modern music!  It is the ingredient that transports
you back in time.

Having hosted a rally here, I found that bringing many diverse groups
together to participate, many were unfamiliar with these instruments.
At first several did not care about the constant "noise" After an hour
or so the magic began to work.  A portrait artist who objected even
bought a CD from one of the organ owners.  Civil War reinactors were
amazed that these instruments also could play "their" music.  Education
and appreciation are the key words here.

Much of today's music just does not arrange well.  The new cobs for the
Gem/Concert roller organs can handle some of the music well as the
arrangements are excellent but much of the music from the last 30 years
just will not cut it.  A model T Ford is not built to drive on
freeways.
