Big 'showman' steam engines, gaily decorated with lots of lights, generate electric power for the attractions and fairground organs. The showman resembles an old steam locomotive, but it has large wheels for driving on roads. At least three tall smokestacks (among dozens) are visible in the photo, filling the night haze with billowing clouds of smoke and exhaust steam. The fair occurs annually in late summer during the Bank Holiday in England.
